Sérgio Antônio de Resende is a retired Appeal’s Court Judge of the Tribunal de Justiça do Estado de Minas Gerais, where he served with distinction from 1994 to 2010. During his tenure at the Court, he held key leadership positions, holding positions such as President (2008–2010) and Vice President (2004–2006) of the Tribunal. He was also the Superintendent of the Judicial School “Desembargador Edésio Fernandes,” where he contributed to the education and professional development of magistrates.
Before becoming an Appeal’s Court Judge, he also served as a Judge of Tribunal de Alçada de Minas Gerais (1988–1994) and as a Judge of the Tribunal Regional Eleitoral de Minas Gerais (1986–1988), significantly contributing to the State’s Electoral Justice. He also worked in the field of Sports Law, acting as an Auditor of the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (2002–2003).
Alongside his judicial career, he had a strong presence in academic studies. He taught Civil and Criminal Procedural Law at Faculdades Integradas do Oeste de Minas and Civil Procedural Law at Milton Campos Law School, playing an important role in shaping new generations of legal professionals.
Currently, he is a member of the Instituto dos Advogados de Minas Gerais and remains active in legal debates and institutional activities of the legal community.
